From Humble Beginnings to Cutting-Edge Excellence
Founding the Legacy – In 1988, Ed King established Insul-Lite Manufacturing in Calgary, Alberta. From a modest 4,800 sq. ft. facility on 61 Ave in Southeast Calgary, Ed began his journey.
Quality and Growth – Over two decades, Ed’s unwavering commitment to quality and service saw the business grow substantially. In time, Insul-Lite moved to a spacious 12,000 sq. ft. building, earning a reputation as a trusted supplier of high-quality sealed units.
Diverse Clientele – Serving primarily residential customers, Insul-Lite catered to a wide spectrum, from small truck and ladder operations to medium-sized window manufacturers.
Passing the Torch – In 2008, Ed King, after 30 years in the glass industry, decided to retire. It was a turning point for Insul-Lite. Glenn & Anne Chong, investors from Red Deer, and Troy Layton, a recent business school graduate, recognized the potential of the company. In June of that year, they took the reins.
Navigating Challenges – The new owners persevered through the economic hardships of 2008-2010, holding steadfast to the core values of quality and timely service.
Evolution and Expansion – Over the next 13 years, Insul-Lite’s dedication to advancement in management, IT, and equipment allowed them to handle larger order volumes and expand into the low-rise commercial sector.
A Quantum Leap – In 2021, Insul-Lite sought to broaden its horizons. Strategic partners, Brass Equities, led by Michael Andrade, came on board, and significant investments were made in automated equipment. The pinnacle of this transformation was the acquisition of the PDS automated line, a 200 ft. technological marvel.
A New Horizon – With the acquisition of the PDS automated line, Insul-Lite moved to a new facility at 7100 112 Ave. S.E. Calgary in May 2022. This marked a new chapter in their journey, allowing them to produce higher-volume sealed units with precision.
Leading the Industry – The PDS automated line represents the cutting edge of IG (Insulated Glass) manufacturing. It features a robot arm, argon gas-filling chamber and two Protect film applicators.
Our People, Our Pride – But what truly sets Insul-Lite apart is its people. The team at Insul-Lite comprises individuals of the highest caliber who are always ready to go the extra mile for their customers. Many of these customers have been supporting Insul-Lite for decades, forming the bedrock of the company’s growth and longevity.
